Dr. Sunderrajan Krishnan

Dr. Krishnan holds a BTech degree in Civil Engineering from IIT Bombay and a PhD in Geological and Environmental Sciences from Stanford University. As the Executive Director of INREM Foundation, he has been at the forefront of finding solutions to rural drinking water problems in India and especially contributed to documenting and bringing to light the Fluoride problem in water. Dr Krishnan has led teams that have produced path breaking innovations on Fluorosis mitigation and showed that the disease is reversible with their work in Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh. He coordinates the Fluoride Knowledge and Action Network, and leads a nationwide initiative for District level action on Water quality problems supported by the European Union. He is associated with the societal technology platform being promoted by Arghyam on Water and looks at this as a fresh opportunity to work at a scale. He contributes to groups such as SAFEBillion, the Water Practitioners Network and the Water Solutions Lab at IISc, Bangalore. He has been part of several state and national level policy making groups on Water quality and related issues.
